Danish Duo Finished Second in Malaysian Open

After an impressive fight in the final against Zhang Jun and Gao Ling from China, Denmark’s Jonas Rasmussen and Britta Andersen had to settle for second-place in the mixed double tournament of this year’s Malaysian Open this weekend. The Danish duo had surprised everyone just by reaching the final, and they came close to producing an even bigger upset when they forced the Chinese Olympic champions to perform at maximum level through three tough sets. But the experience duo from China proved superior in the final stages of the match, which ended 19-21, 21-14, 21-15 in Chinese favor.
     After the Singapore Open last week, the Malaysian Open was a much-needed comeback for the Danish mixed double teams. None of them survived the first round matches in Singapore, but in Malaysia they proved that they are still among the world’s best by claiming two semi-final spots and one spot in the final.
