Edith Sodergran´s poetry translated into Khmer
On 12th September, Finnish and Swedish embassies and the Literacy Academy Cambodia-Sweden organized a reception for over 200 guests. The event, celebrating the publishing of Swedish and Finno-Swedish poetry translated into Khmer, was held in the French Cultural Centre in Phnom Penh. 20.09.2004 | news ScandAsia Administrator
The translations were done by Anna Mattsson, Chheng Hokkhim, Neth Sary, and Johan Rahm. The Literary Academy Cambodia-Sweden was founded in October 2003 to promote literary exchange between Sweden and Cambodia.
Edith Sodergran, known as the most important pioneer in Finno-Swedish literature, is one of the most extensively translated Finnish authors. Her poetry’s bold imagery provoked outrage as well as appreciation among the current critics in the 1910s.
The collection of poems will also be presented at the Gothenburg International Book Fair, 23-26 September.
